Commentators and Pundits
He’s no Brian Moore.

Graeme Le Saux is hard to listen to as a commentator, he hates West Ham.

Jamie Carragher has to be the most unwatchable pundit out there surely.

Who do you rate and hate?

Re: Commentators and Pundits
I agree about Le Saux and Carragher. Chris Sutton must be the most boring pundit ever.

I like Gary Neville and Roy Keane (surprisingly) both talk a lot of sense imo.

I think Ally McCoist is brilliant. Obviously loves the game and doesn’t just come out with banal crap

I like Merson .

Re: Commentators and Pundits
Stelling will be sorely missed

On the main football shows gary neville is one of thr few I can stand.

Worst (and i include thr box ticking former women's "footballers" in this) are micah grinning bellend Richards and Gary cunt Lineker.

Carragher is a prick who should have never kept his job after spitting at fans

There are very few pundits I actually like.

Re: Commentators and Pundits
Can’t stand the Chelsea ladies manager, Emma Hayes(?)
Not a nice voice to listen to and doesn’t fucking shut up. Poor main commentator with her hardly gets a word in.

Think Neville G is maybe my favourite.
Always though Keown made sense but seem to be on my own there
McCoist is one of better ones too

Clinton Morrison and Carlton Cole are good.
Both really improve the coverage.

Lee Dixon is decent - much less one-eyed than monkey’s head

Re: Commentators and Pundits
There are no pundits I actually like, but none i dont like either! find the woman when comentating a bit annoying though, high pitched voices etc

Re: Commentators and Pundits
Ally McCoist is by far the best commentator out there. Same goes on Talksport.

Dont mind Neville when he isnt commentating on Man Utd games.

Re: Commentators and Pundits
I can't stand Martin "AND IT'S LIVE" Tyler.

He can't get his tongue further up some of the big clubs arseholes even if he tried.

He does seem to hate Liverpool though, which is a small redeeming feature of his, I suppose.

Re: Commentators and Pundits
Ally mcCoist can be excellent ,but can also get dragged down to the ian darke level of pointing out the obvious. Recently I think he has been a happy Glenn hoddle and very poor who is awful. For me the guys who do championship games are far better like Andy hinchcliffe, feels like they have done real preparation bor the game and get formations , game plans , styles a real insight. The whole BT lot are awful, so dull and amateur its unbelievable, Joe Cole seems a breath of fresh air. I like the foreign shows you get strange ones like Robbie mustoe being proper opinionated.

Re: Commentators and Pundits
None of them much good and for some reason we have 3/4 in the studio, 2/3 commentating and someone else interviewing managers/players on the pitch. Absolutely outrageous particularly for someone who remembers Kenneth Wolstenholme doing the lot!!

So much money thrown away, I did like Jeff Stelling but seldom pay much attention to the rest who are so biased towards one team they are not worth listening too.

Re: Commentators and Pundits
I usually turn the sound down and rarely listen to the post-match analysis.

I could never stand Alan Smith droning on.

I liked Tony Gale but only because he was incredibly biased towards us.

Re: Commentators and Pundits

When did football pundits decide saying 'look' and 'listen' at the start of every sentence was a good thing?
Joe Cole and Alex Scott are amongst the worst in doing this

Re: Commentators and Pundits
As others have said, Ally McCoist is a great co-commentator. Gives an expert opinion but also remembers that sport is meant to be a form of entertainment.
Conor McNamara is a great commentator. Usually on the radio but does some Amazon Prime games. Peter Drury is fast becoming the voice of football for me, although he does sound almost exactly like Ned Boulting, who is fast becoming the voice of cycling.
And pushing against the what's fast becoming the voice of WHO, I think Emma Hayes and Karen Carney are good co-comms. Like Rob Green as well - intelligent bloke and gives a different insight from a keeper.

I wonder if non-Londoners find Tony Gale as annoying and regionally-partisan as we find McManaman and Carragher?

Re: Commentators and Pundits
I used to like Alan Green on the radio but now it's justvJonathon Pearce and pundits Dion Dublin Ali Mcoist Dean Ashton and Karen Carney.

Tyler & Vikki Sparkes i can't stand..

Re: Commentators and Pundits
Don't really like any of the former pros associated with the big 6 except Keane and Neville. The worst is probably Mcmanaman, I remember him imploring the ref to send a Whu player off when we played Liverpool a few seasons ago but 10 mins previous to that challenge a lfc player made a bad challenge and went in the book (could have been red) and Mcmanaman is full of praise for the ref for 'showing common sense' and the 'neutrals want to see 11 v 11'

Re: Commentators and Pundits
I enjoy Souness Keane and neville as pundits disecting a game .

Jamie redknapp however is awful

One guy on the guardian podcasts who has just started and
is very good - nedum onuoha.

Shearer is growing on me.

Co-coms - I don't mind Karen carney. She was doing Chelsea on the radio yday and was like a kid in a sweet shop. Exactly how I'd be.

Lee Dixon is a good shout.

All time worst - Trevor francis. By a county mile.

Joe C 2:08 Mon Jan 3
Re: Commentators and Pundits
Karen Carney has improved a lot this season.

Last season she would do this incredibly annoying thing where she would just pause midway through a sentence. Drove me mad and distracted from whatever she was saying. Now she doesn’t do that anymore, I quite enjoy here commentary.

I’m not having Lee Dixon down as a good one though - not after his performance commentating on the Watford game last week. Absolute embarrassment
